Just curious, what are your thoughts on Twilight?
The movie Eclipse is out on theaters in a week or so. Many teenage girls and boys can’t wait to go see the movie. Some might even stay up late and go watch it the night it comes out. There is also those who wanted their money back when they went to watch the first movie and still hate the movies/books.
Since the beginning the movies have been sponsored a lot in trailers, online ads, restaurants and TV. I wanted to honestly know from the Twilight fans, and the anti-Twilight people: Why do you like the Twilight movies, or why do you not like them? Do you like the books better, or no, why? But most importantly, why do you think that Twilight movies have became such a big hit on teenagers?

The Twilight books are being treated like great peaces of literature, which is already dissapointing enough. In 30 years, who's going to remember Twilight? It promotes controlling and emotionally abusive relationships, not to mention an unhealthy level of dependancy on your partner. The movies just make everything worse. It's Twilight for the illiterate.
I used to be obsessed with Twilight... like, VERY obsessed. This was in junior high, when they were still relatively new and more "under the radar", I guess you could say (though they certainly weren't). Now, it's just obnoxious how much attention they get, and how silly some girls act when talking about the series. I mean, I used to be one of them- but I matured and started reading different types of books. I vaguely remember hearing about some schools reading Twilight in English classes, and that's just wrong unless it's for a popular literature class.
The thing that really does get under my skin is how everyone thinks Edward is so perfect- no, he really isn't. I can see how some may think that, what with all the adjectives like "perfect", "handsome", etc. Stephenie Meyer uses to describe him, and how much "affection" he showers Bella with, but if you actually pay attention, he is very creepy and obsessive. It is not okay to sneak into a girl's bedroom and watch her sleep. EVER. And it is also not okay for a girl to get so emotionally broken-down like Bella does in New Moon- that is dangerous, and she should have gotten some help. One could argue Jacob acted as a loose therapist, since he made Bella "happy" again, but really, he only caused more conflict later in the series, and the only thing that made her well again was getting back together with Edward. That is not healthy. At all.
I probably wouldn't object to reading them again for fun, just to see how my opinion of them has changed. And I still go to see the movies- but you definitely won't see me obsessing anymore.
Bella is a shell character which is not okay for a main character since she has no skills all she does is think (and for A looong time) (did you see the graphic novel compared to the book? ridiculus how much smaller!
Bella and Edwards love is fake, first he is mean to her then he likes her just because he is sexually drunk with the smell of her blood. Its not because of their skills, what they go through or anything unique which makes a good story.) once I really thought about it i really don't understand how she suddenly loves her.
I think teens like it because its faces the monster=love problem and the chessy love story which they probably are only interested because they are new to the crush deal and dont know what its like.
if your'e not convinced look up on google "why I hate/dislike twilight" their is so many reasons.
plus in numero uno it says screen of hair. which is wrong because a screen is crisscrossed wire she should have said veil which is more appropriate. plus too may (-) in every page!
