ThreeSixty invites reporters from around the Twin Cities to learn how to take their interviewing to the next level at a free training session Sat., Dec. 18 from noon to 1:30 p.m. with Minnesota Public Radio reporter Ambar Espinoza.

You don’t have to be a ThreeSixty reporter to participate in this training. It is open to all teen reporters.

MPR reporter Ambar Espinoza will cover strategies for how to draw out shy sources, how to interview people who’ve suffered trauma, and interview people from different cultures. Ambar Espinoza participated in LA Youth, a teen journalism program like ThreeSixty in Los Angeles, when she was a teen.

Read and listen to Ambar’s stories here.

For this training session, Ambar will use audio from her own reporting, and has surveyed her radio colleagues to collect their interviewing techniques.

The training is located in room 303 of the O’Shaughnessy Frey Education center at the University of St. Thomas, which is building 4 on this map.

We hope you’ll encourage your reporters to take advantage of this wonderful, free opportunity at the University of St. Thomas. Please have your students RSVP by emailing info@threesixtyjournalism.com or calling or emailing Editor Annie Nelson at (651) 962-5269 or annie.nelson@stthomas.edu.
