Live from camp: New experiences
When I first arrived on the front steps of the University of St. Thomas, I thought I would get lost. I had never been to St. Thomas before and had no experience and knowledge of journalism. I had the fear of not wanting to attend camp, but the people around me had faith that I would overcome this fear and step forward in no time.
For the first couple days, I didn’t think that I would be able to survive, but I did. Having a nice and great advisor around, who has great experience in teaching, has taught me a lot and given me the support I need to start the interview, write good questions and find good sources. Without the great advisor, I wouldn’t have learned this much. Without this camp, I wouldn’t have had this great experience this summer.
With all things we’ve had to do – finding good sources and setting interview dates and times – time is passing by fast. I can’t believe it’s already halfway done. At first, I didn’t want to attend camp, but now I don’t want it to end.
I have gotten to talk to all the camp advisors and meet new people. Even though I haven’t talked to them much, I’m still having a great time with everyone. I’m getting to know my advisor better each day and I’m starting to talk to everyone more now. Everyday, I learn new things, have new experiences, get to know everyone better and it’s very fun. I’m enjoying this camp.
