Live from July camp: Day 8

Tags:

This is kind of a sad day. It’s sad because this morning we lost Breann from our “team.” I thought she took the wrong bus because she said she was going to ride with David and me. We were worried all morning, thinking that we lost her somewhere in Minneapolis. Then Annie came in and told us what happened. Her parents pulled her out for personal reasons.

We will miss you Breann.

But yesterday I got the best phone call in my life. OK, maybe not the best, but it felt like it. Someone from Acme Tattoo called me back and said I could do the interview, this is THE interview I wanted. When I got the call I didn’t know what to do. I ran down stairs to my mom and I was freaking out. It was basically like this:

“Mom, mom guess what!”
“What?!?”
“I got my interview!”
“Oh cool, with who?”
“Never mind I gotta go call Annie!”

They said they would call me today at noon so I got all my questions ready and now I play the waiting game. I can’t interview Tanika because she is hard of hearing, but I will be interviewing Beth, the manager. This could take a while. I will call them after lunch if they don’t call me.

Speaking of lunch, I’m hungry. But I’m getting a little tired of The Grill and its food. It’s all like the same.
Yesterday I had my first interview ever. Annie says I did well. I hope I made a good impression and did the interview right.

A post script from Annie: Olivia got her interview set up with Beth from Acme Tattoo this afternoon, a tattoo shop in St. Paul and the staff there helped write a new law that recently took effect that prevents all minors from getting a tattoo, even if their parents would give them permission. And she did do a great job at her first interview!
