CHECK IT OUT: Teens make videos about buckling up

Wayzata senior Matt Ferro actually turned to the Plymouth Fire Department to help him set up a car crash for a film that encourages teens to buckle up.

His video is one of six finalists in the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s “Buckle Up, Teens!” campaign, a contest that encourages teens to make videos about the importance of wearing a seat belt. According to the campaign’s website, teens are the least likely age group to use a seat belt, which means they are over-represented in traffic accident deaths.

The six finalists are in the running for a $1,000 first prize, $600 second prize and $400 third prize.
