Sinthia Mireya Turcios is 16 years old and goes to Washburn High School in Minneapolis. She participated in ThreeSixty’s 2009 Beginning Journalism camp.
I am a very friendly person who likes to find new things to do and meet new places where new people are found. I think that in life to make something happen you need to do it with passion, humbleness, and care. I like to play volleyball, I currently play it for Washburn High School. When I’m not playing volleyball I’m usually working for Threesixty, writing fiction stories, reading a new book, watching movies, hanging out with friends or getting some Z’s. In my life the people who support me the most are my family and mentors, that’s actually how I got to know about Threesixty.
What I love the most about journalism is that with every new story I get to do I meet new people from different backgrounds, I learn new things that I didn’t know before. I love having a team like Annie and Lynda who are there for you whenever you need them. I love writing so this is just fun for me not a job at all. I am taking journalism after high school, I’m probably going into the field of cooking/journalism since those two things are what I love to do.
Favorite book: Right now I would say Les Miserables.
Favorite quote “Teach the ignorant as much as you can;society is guilty in not providing universal free education, and it must answer for the night it produces. If the soul is left in darkness, sins will be comitted. The guilty one is not he who commits the sin, but the one who causes the darkness.” (Les Miserables,14).
Favorite movies: Avatar, the Hannibal series, Transformers and Love Story.
